Scientific research organizations and representatives of employees working in ionizing environments join together in LOWRAD to contribute to the improvement of scientific knowledge on low and very low doses of ionizing radiation and their effects on human health and biotopes.

OBJECTIVES
The purpose of LOWRAD is to support, promote and encourage all actions, studies, work, research, enquiries, publications, conferences, events, whose principal or related purpose is the study and analysis of low doses of ionizing radiation and their effects on human health and biotopes. Another purpose of the Association is to optimize working conditions in ionizing environments, particularly by organizing familiarization and training projects. To achieve these objectives, LOWRAD relies on scientific organizations for study and research, whose main purpose consists of studies and research on low doses of ionizing radiation and their effects on human health and biotopes.

SCIENTIFIC PARTNERS
Any research or academic organization with recognized expertise on ionizing radiations.

SOCIAL PARTNERS
Any organization or association, as WONUC’s members (World Council of Nuclear Workers), which represent the interests of employees working chiefly or subsidiary in ionizing environments.

THE LOWRAD APPROACH

  • Studies and research on low doses of ionizing radiation, their mechanisms, effects and consequences on biotopes;
  • Organisation of scientific events;
  • Publication of scientific work through a scientific review, the “International Journal of Low Radiation”;
  • Communication to the public at large through an internet site;
  • Training of personnel responsible for optimizing working conditions in ionizing environments (radiological protection);
  • Presentation of an annual prize rewarding the best research work concerning low doses of ionizing radiation, the “Marie Curie Prize”.

STUDIES ANS RESEARCH
On behalf of its partner laboratories, LOWRAD replies to calls for tender issued by regional, national and international organizations capable of funding study and research contracts on low and very low doses of ionizing radiation. LOWRAD itself conducts no research. Such projects are conducted by the partner laboratories, as explicitly and contractually notified in the replies to the calls for tender. LOWRAD will encourage its partner laboratories, for which the consequences have potential synergies, to join in replying to the corresponding calls for tender.

SCIENTIFIC EVENTS
WONUC delegates to LOWRAD responsibility for the organization of the international conference “The effects of low and very low doses of ionizing radiations on human health”

SCIENTIFIC REVIEW
The International Journal of Low Radiation(Inderscience Ed.) is a quarterly scientific review that prints the best work concerning the study and analysis of low doses of ionizing radiation and their effects on human health and biotopes.

“MARIE CURIE PRIZE”
Depending the financial support from National, Regional and International Administrations and Institutions, from Industry and others NGO to LOWRAD, the “Marie Curie Prize” will reward the best research work on low doses of ionizing radiation.

MOBILITY GRANTS
Depending the financial support from National, Regional and International Administrations and Institutions, from Industry and others NGO to LOWRAD, mobility grants will be available to fund young investigators to visit laboratories

ANNUAL FEE

  • 50 euros for individual
  • 500 euros for organization
